Crossfit Is A Philosophy of Sacrifice, Not A Workout Routine!


You can read about the technical problems with CrossFit online. But it is the people I see in there which makes it all the more interesting.

It’s always well-dressed peeps with the good matching gym wear, shoes, tattoos, and a fake accent. They are trying to do complex compound movements like deadlifts, squats, should press which takes months to perfect as if it’s a morning stretching routine!

The latest I saw is ten deadlifts followed by burpees on either side of the bar — wow! How right was Ayn Rand when she wrote you don’t have to whip Man but just convince him he’s broken and he will do it himself.

If you learn how to rule one single man’s soul, you can get the rest of mankind. It’s the soul, Peter, the soul. Not whips or swords or fire or guns. That’s why the Caesars, the attilas, the Napoleons were fools and did not last. We will. The soul, Peter, is that which can’t be ruled. It must be broken. Drive a wedge in, get your fingers on it – and the man is yours.

You won’t need a whip – he’ll bring it to you and ask to be whipped. Set him in reverse – and his own mechanism will do your work for you. Use him against himself.


I don’t know where to start — is it just bad information problem when it comes to working out or the marketing behind CrossFit or just the standard “humans are scum philosophy” which is at work here.

I know the third one needs to be explained. I believe that the parental and cultural programming of these people coming to the CrossFit studio is something like “humans are lazy pigs and don’t want to “work hard” “, “no pain without gain”, “if this is so hard then it must be the-most-damn-rightest-fitness thing out there. .because I am unable to do it and it hurts, and humans are lazy scum who don’t want to do hard work, so this must be the pinnacle of fitness science”.

It’s still very vague, but its the standard veg non-veg dichotomy here I believe. That is most people just assume veg = healthy and non-veg = unhealthy not because they have read the science on it and done the research but just because non-veg is tastier, more people like it and saying no to non-veg would be a sacrifice but refusing to eat veggies is no sacrifice because you already don’t like the taste. So if it’s tasty and you really enjoy it, how can it be the healthy option too, where’s the “hard work”, the “sacrifice” which “lazy scum human must do”.

It’s how most religions make you fast once a year for really no fucking reason, some have it 30 days some a month, some allow you to drink water and some don’t. What does it prove in the end? Nothing! So you didn’t eat during the day for a month (ignoring the fact that most religions have a feeding time) and then what? You are suddenly a righteous person? Obviously not, all your crimes and cheating or whatever against another human being are still there till you fix them.

But the point is not eating is harder than eating, so there you go it’s CrossFit all over again, as long as it passes the “sacrifice” test you will do it, fuck the research or workout science.
